Midweek Menagerie 7/8

ONE

I’m sure most have you have seen this great gradient fade tights tutorial, but I keep stumbling to it!  I feel like it is following me around the internet, begging me to create some beautiful tights and probably ruin my carpet.  After I move and actually have a backyard I may try this out, but for now I just have to drool.  Anyone tried this?

TWO

From last week’s post you should now know that I love shoes with wings, hehe, so when Ranna at Only Shallow posted these heels by Minna Parikka I just about had a cute attack.  So amazing!  I might have to save up my lunch money and do some research and get these someday (I don’t believe they’re released yet).  Oh dear.

THREE

I love staring at my lovely, decades old Schwinn Hollywood bike, but that is usually where it ends.  To be honest, I have only rode it twice.  Besides the fact that the town I reside in is covered in hills (I can’t even bike to school, a mile away, because it’s just one big hill), my little Hollywood may have lived the end of its usable years.  Every peddle takes all of my energy.  So… I’m looking into buying a new bike, and there are so many cute ones out there!  My current #1 choice is this Nirve bike above, but there are so many I’m in love with!

FOUR

Drawing with light has been done.  I love it and think it looks neat and all, but it’s been done.  But… PICASSO can make anything look fresh, and when he drew with light, magic happened.  This series of photos taken for LIFE magazine in 1949 are super inspirational and neat and fun.  :) .

FIVE

More shoes, I know, but I had the most amazing run at Goodwill yesterday!  I found these wondrous old etienne aigner loafers and was instantly smitten.  I looked at the size and it was a 9.5 (I’m an 8.5) :-/.  I tried them on anyway and they actually fit!  One might even say they are slightly too small, but I am working on stretching them out :) .  They didn’t have a price on them, so I took them up and she said “is $1.99 okay?” and I said “YES” because all of the other loafers I was looking at were $5 or $6 and not nearly as amazing as these.  So… yay for shoe finds!

SIX

I love doing fun little things with my camera, so this idea was really exciting for me!  I can’t wait to try this out and make everything look like it is full of love, heh.

Hope you’re having a good week!

Daily Outfit

June 28th, 2009

I’m a little bit obsessed with this scarf I got in Chinatown while in San Fran.  I’ve been wearing it all the time around my neck, mostly because I’m not daring enough to wear it starlet style, which is why I bought it in the first place.  Along the lines of not being daring, I bought these heels (jessica simpson, which I usually don’t like) to wear for my graduation and at the last minute decided I was too afraid I’d trip and fall whilst walking up the stairs.  Rest of outfit is h&m skirt, thrifted bag, sunglasses from urban, and shirt from kohls (I swear, all of my best collared shirts come from kohls).

Hope your Sunday is going well and amazingly lazy :) .

ps.  Oh my gosh, I completely forgot that today is Meeshu’s birthday.  I am embarrassed to say that my MOM actually called today to remind me.  Meeshu was probably lazily sadly lying around today, 16 candles-esqu, waiting for us to give him doggie treats and extra attention.  Oops :( .  Happy 4th birthday, Meeshu!

Midweek Menagerie 6/24

June 24th, 2009

I think I’m going to start doing a weekly catchall post like I did last week.  There are so many fun things I want to talk about that I really can’t write a whole post about.  So… here are the things I want to talk about this week!

ONE

I am terribly excited to try out this tutorial posted at lovemaegan.com on how to create a braided belt from old jersey shirts.  I haven’t taken those five bags of clothes to Salvation Army yet, so I will have quite a few colors of jersey shirts to choose from :) .  It looks super chic and I love adding belts to jazz up an outfit.

TWO

How gorgeous are these shoes from Coppelia Pique?  I don’t think I could ever wear them, that heel looks deadly, but I’m quite taken with them!  I love how they lace up the back like a corset.  I can’t even imagine how much they cost, it looks like they are individually made to fit your foot.

THREE

I don’t imagine I would ever have a real *need* for these high waisted undies by TwinSyndrome but really… adorable.  I have been eying these since Winter and just cannot justify buying them.  My favorite color is the one above, but they have quite a few others to choose from!

FOUR

I might be out of the cupcake loop, but a friend recently posted a photo of cheeseburger cupcakes and I’m pretty sure I died of cute right then and there.  I did some googling and found a few variations, but this one is a white cupcake bun, chocolate cookie burger, squished starburst cheese, and buttercream ketchup and mustard.  I can’t wait to recreate these for a birthday party!

FIVE

After what feels like months of not checking out my favorite blogs, I finally went through A TON OF THEM yesterday to see what everyone has been up to.  I visited Tara-Lynn at Stay Fancy Free and went to her etsy shop, which is full of these amazingly cute knit ascots.  Things like this make me want Fall to come four months early (and it totally got me nostalgic for the knit bow ties I made last winter!).

I think this is all I have for you this week.  Hope your Wednesday is going well!

Things to look forward to: alphabet posts coming soon!

Howto::Shoe Belts

April 21st, 2009

As some of you may know, I have a heart on the top of my left foot and a clover on top of my right.  While they’re terribly adorable, sometimes people just don’t appresh the tats.  I bought these quite comfy solid black nine west pumps from amazon last week because I’m trying to establish some business staple items, but I can’t really wear them with my tattoos hanging out.  Therefore, I give you… insta mary janes!   And the best part?  You can take it off or switch it for a different color whenever you want :) ! Below is how I turned solid black pumped into funky mary janes.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 1 belt, preferably leather because it’s prettier :) .  Thrift stores have a ton of funky belts, if you’re in need
  • 2 elastic hair ties
  • something sharp and pointy to make holes in the belt.  An icepick would work well.  I used an electronic screwdriver because frankly, I don’t mess the heck around.
  • Scissors

This is a belt, in case you were wondering what they look like.

Okay, put on your pretty pretty princess solid pumps.  Fit the belt around their middle section and figure out how long you need to cut the belt sections.  Cut one section that has the belt buckle and one solid section.

Victoria’s Secret: 40% of Sale Shoes

March 19th, 2009

I have a really bad I-NEED-shoes-even-though-I-have-100-pairs problem, and this newsletter from Victoria’s Secret telling me that all of their sale shoes are 40% off with coupon SAVE40 is just what I need to make me buy more shoes I don’t need.

So I’ve decided that even though I’m absolutely in love with the navy Fryes, I really don’t think my huge calves will fit in them, haha.  I like the floral dudes, but I don’t really see myself in them.  I really want the black ruffle pumps and I already have them in red and they are super comfortable, but I probably shouldn’t own the same pair of shoes in two colors, right?  I really like that cream oxford, so I might end up getting them (even though over I never get heels over four inches with a stilletto heel, which could be a problem for, you know, my poor feet).

Someone help me decide!

If you want some cheap shoes, visit Victoria’s Secret’s clearance shoe section and use coupon code SAVE40 before Sunday.  You can only use the code on one item per order, so make sure it counts!

In Love

November 3rd, 2008

shoes from here, background from here

So I’m fairly in love with these shoes from Urban.  I’m a big fan of Irregular Choice, I don’t think I’ve seen more than a couple of pair of shoes from them that I’ve disliked.  When I got the newsletter from UO featuring these puppies it was pretty much love at first sight.  So yes, I will be getting these shoes some day.

In other news, I’m still super swamped with school!  My last test in this set of tests is tommorow, and it’s sure to do quite a number on my ego.  I’ve received two Bs out of the last 23 classes I’ve taken, both of which were within about 2% of an A.  This is the only class in the last two years that I’m actually really hoping I can pull off a B in.  I was the highest grade on our first test and it was a 90.3, and I’m pretty certain this test is going to be about 500 times harder.  So… I probably shouldn’t be updating, but my brain has turned to mush and I can’t study for a few minutes.

In other other news, I made a blog lovin’ account, modepass account, and chictopia account in the last week (oh yes, I’m the queen of procrastination).  I absolutely love bloglovin (if you have a blog I’d love to follow you :) ), chictopia and modepass are pretty neat as well but I’m having a hard time figuring everything out still.  So… add me to things!  hehe:

add me as your modepass friend

add me as your chictopia friend

Lastly, if you ordered something from the store, I shipped everything out this morning!  You should be receiving your items soon :) .
