ONE

Now I am not a big pineapple person, but when a friend linked to this tutorial on how to plant a regular pineapple into the ground to make a pretty plant (that will produce its own pineapples in a couple of years) I was completely amazed!  I can’t wait to try this out.  Now I just need someone to eat the pineapple so I can take the top…

TWO

I am a little obsessed with sunscreen lately, and this clinique face sunscreen is great!  I received a coupon in the mail for a free tube (either Clinique is very hard up for some sales or they found out I am the palest person in the universe).  I have been biking to school every day and have to wear sunscreen on the reg, so I put this sunscreen on, top it with some Mac prep n prime, and call it a day.  Anything I can feel comfortable wearing without foundation is a big plus!

THREE

I was super excited to see that there are some great crafty people in my new home town of Lubbock, but I especially love all of the lovely jewelry that Sarah from Pink Street makes!  The things are her etsy are all just so feminine and lovely, with bits of vintage.  She is at the First Friday Art Trail every month, which would be great, but I’m *unfortunately* going to start interning for them, so I won’t be able to go buy her things.  And by *unfortunately* I mean fortunately and super super excited and am very very happy to start assisting the FFAT marketing coordinator and learning the neat things that go into art event planning.

FOUR

So I got a free shirt from the graduate club a few days ago.  The girl who gave it to me gave me a very strange look when I happily took a size extra large.  Little did she know, I wanted the large size so that I could do this fun tutorial on how to turn a t-shirt into a jersey tote.  Can’t wait to try this out!

FIVE

I was talking to a friend in class today when he told me that he stuck a paper clip into the cable spot of his television, which acts as a pseudo-antenna.  It was amazing!  I tried it out for myself (and also added a little foil to the end, to be extra careful), hit the ’scan’ button on our tv, and… now we get three channels!  Neither me nor David are big television watchers, and if we are we watch them on our computers, but it is nice to get a couple of channels to watch the news and such.  Try it out, it’s crazy!  That, or I am easily amused.

SIX

We bought these owl bookends for the purpose of using them as doorstops, and they look so cute in our house.  Now too exciting, I just like them.

ONE

Super old news at this point, but my love for these Jeremy Scott Adidas was renewed when I saw them on lookbook yesterday.  A few months ago I saw them in Nylon and fell in love with them, but eventually forgot they existed.  When I showed them to David he said “what purpose does that serve?” but come on, do you really need a purpose to have sweet wings on your shoes?  I think not!

TWO

This guy on the Satorialist has been my hair inspiration the last couple of days.  I had my hair in curlers a couple of nights ago.  I got up and did my hair and then grabbed a cup of coffee and checked my bloglovin.  After seeing him I immediately went and poofed the heck out of my hair.  I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fro out my hair that much, but I did make it about 5 times bigger than it was before :) .

THREE

If you haven’t seen how fricking adorable Emma Watson looks in Teen Vogue, you should probably see these.  I am terribly excited to see Harry Potter on opening night… even though no one will dress up with me, haha.

FOUR

I left this fabulous tutorial opened in a window on my desktop for about a week before I finally closed it.  I knew if I closed it I would never getting around to reopening it and trying the tutorial.  That was a month ago :-/.  Anyways, this tutorial on embellished tights is fabulous!  I would probably get a run in them the first time I wore them, knowing how clumsy I am, but they are so lovely it would probably be worth it.

FIVE

So I have accounts at all of the fashion sites (stylemob… chictopia… modepass… probably some others) and never really post in them.  It seems like they all have kinks or confuse me or I just don’t want to take the time to learn to get around.  When darling Jane (she and her boy run Burger and Friends!) invited me to join lookbook I was excited because it’s the only fashion site I actually look at, but didn’t really think I’d end up posting anything.  But it’s super easy to get around and I like it a lot more than the others, even though I’ve only been on it one day!  Go be my friend :) .

SIX

We did a secret package exchange at the message board I’ve been posting at since I was 17 (!) and an adorable girl named Sarah got me as her partner.  She sent me lots of cutie pie things, but my favorite was this necklace!  It’s so pretty!  I’ve been wearing it any time it matches.  It has real flowers set in resin (or something).  So cute :) .

SEVEN

I got in to Texas Tech for my MBA!  My family is kind of obsessed with Texas Tech, but when I was looking at schools I never really considered it because I wasn’t excited about living in Lubbock.  But then David got accepted into their PhD program and I started playing around with the idea of applying and researched the program a bit more… and decided I liked it a lot :) .  I applied a couple of weeks ago and am really excited I got in, woo!

Midweek Menagerie 6/24

June 24th, 2009

I think I’m going to start doing a weekly catchall post like I did last week.  There are so many fun things I want to talk about that I really can’t write a whole post about.  So… here are the things I want to talk about this week!

ONE

I am terribly excited to try out this tutorial posted at lovemaegan.com on how to create a braided belt from old jersey shirts.  I haven’t taken those five bags of clothes to Salvation Army yet, so I will have quite a few colors of jersey shirts to choose from :) .  It looks super chic and I love adding belts to jazz up an outfit.

TWO

How gorgeous are these shoes from Coppelia Pique?  I don’t think I could ever wear them, that heel looks deadly, but I’m quite taken with them!  I love how they lace up the back like a corset.  I can’t even imagine how much they cost, it looks like they are individually made to fit your foot.

THREE

I don’t imagine I would ever have a real *need* for these high waisted undies by TwinSyndrome but really… adorable.  I have been eying these since Winter and just cannot justify buying them.  My favorite color is the one above, but they have quite a few others to choose from!

FOUR

I might be out of the cupcake loop, but a friend recently posted a photo of cheeseburger cupcakes and I’m pretty sure I died of cute right then and there.  I did some googling and found a few variations, but this one is a white cupcake bun, chocolate cookie burger, squished starburst cheese, and buttercream ketchup and mustard.  I can’t wait to recreate these for a birthday party!

FIVE

After what feels like months of not checking out my favorite blogs, I finally went through A TON OF THEM yesterday to see what everyone has been up to.  I visited Tara-Lynn at Stay Fancy Free and went to her etsy shop, which is full of these amazingly cute knit ascots.  Things like this make me want Fall to come four months early (and it totally got me nostalgic for the knit bow ties I made last winter!).

I think this is all I have for you this week.  Hope your Wednesday is going well!

Things to look forward to: alphabet posts coming soon!
