ONE

Now I am not a big pineapple person, but when a friend linked to this tutorial on how to plant a regular pineapple into the ground to make a pretty plant (that will produce its own pineapples in a couple of years) I was completely amazed!  I can’t wait to try this out.  Now I just need someone to eat the pineapple so I can take the top…

TWO

I am a little obsessed with sunscreen lately, and this clinique face sunscreen is great!  I received a coupon in the mail for a free tube (either Clinique is very hard up for some sales or they found out I am the palest person in the universe).  I have been biking to school every day and have to wear sunscreen on the reg, so I put this sunscreen on, top it with some Mac prep n prime, and call it a day.  Anything I can feel comfortable wearing without foundation is a big plus!

THREE

I was super excited to see that there are some great crafty people in my new home town of Lubbock, but I especially love all of the lovely jewelry that Sarah from Pink Street makes!  The things are her etsy are all just so feminine and lovely, with bits of vintage.  She is at the First Friday Art Trail every month, which would be great, but I’m *unfortunately* going to start interning for them, so I won’t be able to go buy her things.  And by *unfortunately* I mean fortunately and super super excited and am very very happy to start assisting the FFAT marketing coordinator and learning the neat things that go into art event planning.

FOUR

So I got a free shirt from the graduate club a few days ago.  The girl who gave it to me gave me a very strange look when I happily took a size extra large.  Little did she know, I wanted the large size so that I could do this fun tutorial on how to turn a t-shirt into a jersey tote.  Can’t wait to try this out!

FIVE

I was talking to a friend in class today when he told me that he stuck a paper clip into the cable spot of his television, which acts as a pseudo-antenna.  It was amazing!  I tried it out for myself (and also added a little foil to the end, to be extra careful), hit the ’scan’ button on our tv, and… now we get three channels!  Neither me nor David are big television watchers, and if we are we watch them on our computers, but it is nice to get a couple of channels to watch the news and such.  Try it out, it’s crazy!  That, or I am easily amused.

SIX

We bought these owl bookends for the purpose of using them as doorstops, and they look so cute in our house.  Now too exciting, I just like them.

Girls With Pearls

October 15th, 2008

top necklace, top ring, bottom necklace, bottom ring

I’ve been slightly jewelry obsessed when it comes to my etsy searches these days. I’m really not a jewelry person, at least when it comes to “fancy” jewelry, but some of the artwork is just beautiful. It amazes me the things people come up with, like the pomegranate necklace shown above!  And even though the twisted ring isn’t the most creative, the simplicity is wonderful.

I think a pearl necklace is the only timeless item of jewelry. It’s probably the only piece of jewelry I’d ever buy for myself. I’m really not a diamond fan, it’s just kind of cliche and obvious, most of the time, plus all of the politics around them. It would be really cool to go to a diamond mine for a weekend and get lucky enough to find a tiny diamond for an engagement ring or something romantic like that, but the chances of you finding something are so slim… Pearls are definitely a great understated addition to anything.
